Check out this week's cool cooking ideas and brilliant baking recipes all designed to enthuse children in learning how to make some fabulous healthy dishes. Whether you're a teacher, forest school leader or home educator these resources will delight children of all ages!

Ages 4 -6

Use this Design a Healthy Breakfast plate template to ask children to draw what they believe is a healthy breakfast. This can then generate a discussion about healthy breakfast foods and the different types of foods that should make up our diet – you can use the Eatwell plate to help.

Use this Eatwell Guide resource produced by AHDB to help children recognise the Eatwell Guide and understand the food groups.

Helping children recognise different vegetables and fruit, and what they do for our body encourages children to try healthy food. This gorgeous poster produced by Food For Life can be downloaded to decorate the eating area or classroom.

Ages 7 - 11

This brilliant Healthy Campfire Recipes resource produced by Learning Through Landscapes details some simple recipes for campfires using typical school grounds produce. 

Cooking these Bread Twists is also a fun focus around a campfire. It could also be a hook for an immersive history lesson or even an opportunity to apply number processes as pupils calculate quantities of ingredients required.

 Ages 11 - 16

This Jamaican Pattie recipe produced by Food for Life makes for a versatile meal option for all the family and can be filled with a variety of nutritious food combinations to suit a variety of tastes and requirements. It’s a useful main meal finger food for eating at a picnic or at social gatherings.
